Anthropomorphic creatures, artefacts, hybrids of animate and inanimate, of human organism and machine – close and human and at the same time radically alien as dead objects. In the face of them, our own bodies suddenly appear just as alien and constructed.
BODY SHOTS investigates the narrow boundary of perception between these artificial creatures and us, and for this purpose designs quasi-human substitute bodies, anonymous, free of gender, ethnic and social inscriptions and stereotypes, which – in the best case – become an empathic body and projection surface for the viewer and his or her fears, wishes and feelings. What remains is a vision of the human being and the question of what actually constitutes our humanity.
