Evil fascinates. Dystopias trigger shock and awe. They won’t let us go and we shudder at the prospect of a bleak future. But soon reality threatens to overtake even the darkest visions of the future. The choreography duo Kathrin Spaniol and Morgan Nardi are producing a dystopian series in various formats over three years. In the first season Schattenblick – consisting of three video episodes – the narrative and representation of evil is scrutinised. What is the fascination? Is evil merely a construction? Is it instructive or salutary when we encounter it in art? For the release of the video series, they invite us to binge-watch together in the foyer of the FFT. They draw us into a vortex of perfidious fictions and symbols of the inexplicable. We watch together, get into conversation and maybe we realise: We are not alone.
