The French philosopher Michel Foucault spoke of countries without places and history, which are created as utopias in people’s minds – in the spaces between their words, in the placeless place of their dreams. But what happens when the performing body finds itself in its own utopia in the stage object; the video images draw the audience into these spaces in order to lose themselves there? “absence#2” is a choreographic, fictional approach to themes in this context. A layered contemplation of man and space, of fear, dream, fullness and emptiness. Projections, stage objects and live music weave the dancers and performers into a game with illusion, creating constantly changing spaces that can open up into infinity, distort and dissolve again, reshaping the limited surface of the object and relieving it of the power of real space.
