PREMIERE: ATARA // Reut Shemesh // 4. April 2019 // K3 Tanzplan Hamburg / Kampnagel
With Atara, Reut Shemesh looks at the different perspectives of Orthodox and secular Jewish women regarding gender roles, sexuality and the desire for intimacy. Based on photographs, a series of interviews and the participants‘ own experiences, reality, reenactment and fake are interwoven and the links between guilt, shame and the female body are examined. The result is an oscillating dialogue between different worldviews that irritates clichés, prejudices and one’s own way of life.
Atara is a production by Reut Shemesh, K3 | Tanzplan Hamburg in cooperation with tanzhaus nrw.
