Hip hop is no longer purely for youth or for subculture anymore, it extends into all areas of life and art, presenting itself in ever more surprising and new ways. Under the direction of Samir Akika, Crayfish approaches this historical phenomenon, its stylistic means, the attitude of hip hop through a genre defying collage of individual contributions. The result is an experimental evening researching the traces of hip hop.
“Behind every excessive, fervent passion, there is also escapism. Hip hop is just such a folly. You could not portray hip hop in a more empathetic and rousing manner than Akika and his team succeeded in doing.“ (Nicole Strecker, WDR5 Scala)
