Apart from her work as a dramaturge with William Forsythe, Célestine Hennermann developed her own format. As a choreographer, she created, among other achievements, dance plays for the youngest audience, a segment that had been neglected in the German theatrical landscape up to then. It is her desire to let even toddlers experience the world of dance. According to a stringent dramaturgical outline, she made bright, active plays revolving around topics which move babys and toddlers alike, full of colours, sounds and atmosphere, palpable for the youngest audience. The presence of the dancers, playful role models and accompaniment through these images, is as important to her as the procession of the experience. Thus, after each performance, the children are allowed on stage to physically reenact the play just seen, to repeat it and make it their own.
Following her studies of theatre and directing in Frankfurt/ Main (with professor Hans-Thies Lehmann), Paris and Seattle, Célestine Hennermann worked as a dramaturge and curator at the Ballett Frankfurt and the TAT in the Bockenheimer Depot. Today, she works as a freelance dramaturge and choreographer, realising, among other things, productions with the hip hop group E-Motion and Helena Waldmann. Apart from her plays for children, she also does work in dance and performance with the collektive 2+. In 2011, she premiered her third stage work with 2+, “studio album“, at the Künstlerhaus Mousonturm Frankfurt.
